After I read the Church statement on "Big Love" which is to air on HBO and how the powers of darkness think to destroy the work of God on the earth my thoughts turn to the many times the enemy of all that is good continues to further God's work. The evil one thought he would destroy God's work when he had Adam and Eve partake of the forbidden fruit, but he failed for that is how the family of Adam and Eve began, and we had the opportunity to choose good over evil. He failed again and again throughout the centuries, and his greatest failure was when he inspired wicked men to crucify our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for by so doing he opened the door for the Lord to break the bonds of death and hell. He thought he would again destroy the church of God by having the Prophet Joseph Smith killed, but again he failed the Church grew and flourished despite the bitter opposition.
Now with HBO and "Big Love" showing what is most sacred to Latter Day Saints by showing a supposed recreation of the Holy Temple ceremonies before a world audience the evil one thinks to mock that which is sacred and it will hurt the work of the Lord, but time will once again prove he is wrong. This act of evil will only further separate the wheat from the tares. President Willford Woodruff stated something like "the ceremonies of the temple were received by revelation and can only be understood by revelation" so even though a representation of the temple ceremonies will be shown, the sacred truths will not.
I personally believe as Jesus taught with parables and how He said my sheep shall hear My voice, so too those who are the Lord's sheep will see will hear His voice and be drawn to His church while the tares will continue to kick against the pricks.
